My deepest condolences to Kathy and the family. Bob always spoke proudly and always with a smile of his nephews, nieces and friends - never about work - when we spent time on the golf course in Port Hope. He was proud of his baking abilities :) As a professional, he was always there to mentor and provide wisdom to young people like me. He was always one of the guys - never a boss - which to me was just plain amazing. Although it has been years since I hugged him at a conference, his influence and impact will echo for the rest of my life - thanks Bob.

Sad that Bob has passed so soon, yet we can celebrate a life lived very fully. He experienced working in the extreme heat of north Australia and extreme cold of northern Saskatchewan. He explored the jungles of Papua New Guinea where he had to avoid arrows when driving to work but also walked the halls of the Russell Building, home of US Senators, where we explored business opportunities with the US government. He was particularly at home in process plants where he used his knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to get-involved to quickly resolve any issues. I feel fortunate to have had him as a boss during his time at Fuel Services and am grateful for the opportunities and support he gave me. Sincere condolences to Kathy and the Steane family, Andy Oliver

I am very sad to hear of Bob’s passing. I had the privilege of working for him at the Key Lake mine from start-up and came to admire his comprehensive technical expertise and his straightforward and methodical way of tackling tasks. I will remember him as a kind and honorable man.

A gracious, intelligent man also blessed with a sense of humour, I had the honour of meeting with Mr. Steane while serving as the Editorial Director a local newspaper in Port Hope. He came to meet with the “local press”. He stands out as one of the most astute, caring business representatives in an often-controversial mileu. An honourable man. Salud. Thank you.

Kathy, I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Bob. I had the honour of working for him for over 6 years and shared the challenges and successes of our work in northern Saskatchewan with him. No matter the challenge, Bob saw the possibility of success and approached each as an opportunity full of professionalism and a focus on people. His support for myself was absolute. I remain a better person and professional for my time with Bob. Sincerest condolences, Grant Goddard, South Woodslee, Ontario.

I was saddened to read of Bob’s passing. He was a highly accomplished person, yet quiet and very unassuming. He was a thoughtful and generous philanthropist and gave back to the Saskatoon community through many very generous donations which will improve the quality of life of many for a long time to come. He set a good example, will be remembered, and missed. Sincere condolences to his loved ones and friends.
