Obituary of Edna Nellie Moore
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Edna Nellie Moore of Saskatoon. Edna was the only child of Edwin (William) and Edith May (Smart) Moore. Edna was predeceased by her parents and grandparents William and Nellie (Homister) Moore, George and Margery (Uglow, Danger) Smart, Edna was born in Shellbrook Sk on September 16, 1953 and grew up on a farm in the Cookson district and learned many useful life skills from her dad who she adored. Edna graduated high school in Shellbrook Sk. Edna moved to Saskatoon in the early 1970’s where she attended the University of Saskatchewan. Eventually moved on to become a restaurateur and then later went on to be a journeyman cook. Edna worked 25 plus years at Elmwood Lodge with her Elmwood family. Edna was semi-retired and was able to pursue her many interests. Edna loved her cats and was a devoted kitty mom. Her beloved Pumpkin passed at a ripe old age in May 2019. Edna enjoyed her aqua size class and tried swimming even though she had a slight fear of the water. Edna enjoyed to Folkfest, trying food from around the world. She was a weekend world traveller. She enjoyed a slice of Doukhobor bread while strolling the Midway at the Saskatoon Exhibition. She was rewarded after a fashion by winning a Kinsman car in the early 1990’s. Edna loved to play games. At the mention of the word “games” her hands would rub together and a big smile on her face. It was game on! Edna enjoyed watching T.V StarTrek with Captain Kirk was one of her favorites. Some of Edna’s interests were belly dancing, fishing, hula hooping, music, star gazing, dancing, knitting and she took up exercising. On the dog days of summer, you could find Edna and her dear friend Nelda sipping on margaritas. She liked to travel and she would go to Alberta with her beloved Pumpkin every year to visit her friends Brenda and Raymond. While in Alberta, it was a must for her to see the mountains which reminded her of her childhood holidays with her parents. Edna also enjoyed helping her friends and was in the process of helping her long time friend Faye with some home renovations. Edna cherished her cats and loved them all with a full heart. Her home and lap always ready for a kitty and a cat in need was never turned away and always a home was found for a lost or abandoned cat. Edna is survived by many family members, her cousins Claris and Sharon among them. Her family will miss her kind and generous heart. She also leaves many treasured friends who will miss her smile, and who will go on without her. They will carry her in their hearts. The homeless kitties of Exhibition area will truly miss her.
