Darryl was a wonderful guy to work with over my 22 years at Kubota...and always had such a light-hearted way about him that I appreciated. Since his retirement I have missed our interactions...and I am so sorry to hear this sad news.
Warm thoughts and prays to his family, and sincere condolences,
Patricia Szabo

As a friend of Ginelle's from another province, Darryl and Glenda always welcomed me into their homes at a moments' notice (in both Canada and Mexico) over the years. They treated me like one of their own and made my visits fun and memorable. Darryl always gave me optimistic life advice and educated me on a variety of subjects during my stays - most recently, the humpback whales in Mexico! I admired the love that him and Glenda so obviously shared, and how deeply he cared for Ginelle and her siblings. He is going to be missed, and my heart hurts for everyone who's lives he was a constant in. Sending you all love.

Dear Glenda and family,
Darryl and I only met about 14 months ago in Mexico but from the first moment I met him, I could see that he had the love of Christ in his manner and behaviour. Darryl was an extremely generous soul whether he was running the Progresso dental clinic, teaching English as a second language, or caring for the Mexican family he sponsored in Puerto Vallarta. He volunteered to drive many volunteers to the dental clinic and ESL classes. This meant that we spent at least 20 minutes together four to six times a week over many months. He spent so much time serving others that I’m sure his family wondered if he had truly retired at all. Spending that much time with Darryl, I came to know him quite well in a relatively short period of time. He seemed like the older brother I never had. I looked up to him.
He shared with me that God had gifted him many of life’s lotteries. Darryl was so grateful that he had been born at the right time and in the right place. He had never known war. He always had a roof over his head and food on the table. He had parents who loved him and encouraged him. He had not only been given many opportunities but also the talents and gifts to make the most of them. He met the love of his life in Glenda and together they successfully raised four children. He was loved by friends and family throughout his entire life. Perhaps most importantly, he was grateful that his earthly parents introduced him to his heavenly Father.
Since he had been given much, Darryl felt that it was only fair that he also gave to others. He paid it forward . . . and a lot. He did so quietly and often in secret. May God bless you for that Darryl.
He lived his life according to Matthew 25:40. “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Rest in peace my friend. We know where you are, we know with whom you are, and we know that we will see you again. Until then, we miss you profoundly.
