Obituary of David Ross McKay
We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother and uncle David Ross McKay on May 29, 2019. Dave was born in North Battleford on April 16, 1954 and moved to Saskatoon with his family in 1967. He received his Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Saskatchewan. He went on to have a long and successful career at Cory Potash Mine where he retired as Chief Accountant. Some of Dave’s greatest joys were found at the family cabin at Jackfish Lake. It was there he spent many summers with friends and an ever-expanding family. To all of his nieces, nephews and friends he was lovingly known as Uncle Dave. He loved to talk and minutes would become hours. He took a genuine interest in everyone he met. Dave had an instant connection with children and dogs. It might have been because of the treats he lavished on both.
Dave will be deeply missed by his mother Jean, brother Brian (Gloria) niece Jana and Ali McKay (Devon and Isaac Regier). Also left to mourn are his cousins Lois (Maurice) Roberge and their children Danielle, Desirae and Aimee Roberge, and Adelle Kopp-McKay and Terlynne McKay. Not to be forgotten his beloved beagle and best friend Howie and his numerous friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his father Dale McKay, Aunt and Uncle Afra and Bryce McKay, and cousin Allan McKay.
The celebration of life will be held at St. George’s Anglican church, 624 Avenue I South on Thursday, June 6th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Donor’s Choice.
