Obituary of Clifford Pateman

Clifford John Pateman was born January 19, 1924 in Glamis Saskatchewan. The second son and fifth child of Jack and Minnie Pateman. He took his schooling in Glamis, finishing grades 11 and 12 in Forgan. In 1943 he joined the RCAF as an Airframe Mechanic.  On May 12, 1944 he married the love of his life, Jean Nickason of Wiseton. A marriage that was to last for 75 years. They had four children; Gail (Don) Wendt, Linda, John and Ken (Denise). Cliff and Jean lived on the farm South of Wiseton until they retired in 1975 and moved to Saskatoon where Cliff worked with a friend, Mike Kuchopsky doing carpentry and Jean worked at McDonalds for 10 years.  They traveled to various places over the years and, having bought a camper and boat, spent a lot of summers camping and fishing. They also spent many hours with friends playing cards and dancing. Winter would find them once a week at the bowing alley. They were both 93 the last year that they bowled.  In June of 2018 they moved to Warman to live with Ken and Denise. In January 2019 due to health issues Cliff spent the last three months in The Veterans Village at Sherbrooke Nursing Home. He passed away quietly in his sleep on May 29th, 2019.  He leaves to mourn his loving wife Jean of 75 years, daughter Gail (Don) Wendt, sons John and Ken (Denise) as well as 16 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren, sisters Irene McConnell and Elsie Hanel-Jones. He was predeceased by daughter Linda, parents Jack and Minnie Pateman, sisters Dorthey (Walter) and Ivy (Les), brother Stan (Helen), brothers-in-law Avery McConnell, Les Whyte and Walter McCuragh and sister-in-law Helen Pateman. Inlaws Jim and Nell Nickason, sister and brother-in-law Ed and Helen Hunter as well as several nieces and nephews.  Services for Clifford Pateman will be held on Monday, June 3rd at 1:00 PM at Saskatoon Funeral Home with interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of card or flowers, donations can be made to The Veterans Village Sherbrooke Community Center 401 Acadia Drive Saskatoon S7H 2E7.
