Obituary of Diana Mary Elizabeth Lelliott-Winkenweder

Diana Mary Elizabeth Winkenweder-Lelliott of Saskatoon passed away peacefully on May 15, 2019 at the Veteran's Village at Sherbrooke Community Centre. Mom was born April 25, 1923 in Waltham Abbey, Essex, England, the youngest of three children. In her later teens she joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) of the British Army in England. Mom met John Winkenweder a Canadian soldier during the war and they married in July, 1945. Mom immigrated to Saskatoon as a War Bride landing at Pier 21 at Halifax, N.S. Dad passed away October, 1973. Mom remarried in 1979 to Len Lelliott who passed away in October, 2005. Diana began working at Reitmans in 1968. By the time of her retirement she had become the Manager of the Midtown Plaza store. During her 20 years with the company, through her kindness and patience she was well respected by her employer and made life long friends with the staff who worked for her. Throughout her life her beautiful smile was so much a part of who she was. Diana will be greatly missed by her loving family. She is survived by Diane (Lorne) Haugen, Saskatoon, Richard (Marilyn), Edmonton, Greg (Karen), Saskatoon, Debbie Verbeke, Saskatoon, Derek (Lynne), California, Caroline (Rob), Grand Prairie and step-daughter Gail Moss. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a very big part of her life and she loved and cherished them deeply. She is survived by grandchildren|: Darren (Sarah) Haugen, Jeff (Lindsay) Verbeke, Jennifer Verbeke (Chad), Stephen Verbeke, Kenneth McNabb, Stewert McNabb, Stephanie (Alex) Koutzoukis, Kimberly Winkenweder, Matthew Winkenweder, Tyler Moss, Tannis (Graham) Nicholson and eleven great-grandchildren: Dallas, Austin H, Colby, Jacob, Austin N, Chelsea, Tanden, Zayden, Blakely, Keira and Margo. Mom was predeceased by her two brothers, Kenneth and Leslie Blackiston. The funeral will be held Monday, May 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home.
