Madeline Elizabeth Leonard passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Saskatoon on May 10, 2019 at the age of 95. Madeline was born on the farm near Tessier, SK to Tom and Vera Murison on December 14, 1923. She completed high school in Tessier and worked at the local store before marrying Nat Leonard in 1944. Together they raised a family and ran a successful farming operation. In 2000, Madeline and Nat moved to Luther Heights in Saskatoon where she remained until 2011. During her final years, she was placed in the DCF program under the care of her daughter, Cathy. Those who knew her remember a woman with a warm heart and gentle spirit who demonstrated strength and resilience throughout her life. Ever appreciative of her time here on earth, she always maintained an attitude of gratitude.
Madeline will be forever cherished by her children: Ron (Judy), Blair (Rhonda), Cathy; grandchildren Corey (Liesl), Sherri (Randy Singler), Adrienne (Glen Urban), Greg, Ryan, Jacalyn; great-grandchildren Jackson, Sierra, Brett, Landon, Tyson, Clay and Chase; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and beloved caregivers. Madeline was the last surviving family member of her generation. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Nathaniel Leonard, brothers Andy (Ruth) Murison, Jim Murison, and sister-in-law Vera (George) Whitmore.
A service will be held at Saskatoon Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 15 at 1:00 pm with Reverend Deb Walker officiating. Lunch to follow at the W.A. Edwards Family Centre.
