I just saw the obituary today in 2020. Sorry to hear this news, profoundly saddens me. John was a lot of fun to hang out with, can still see and hear him laugh. Had lots of fun adventures, laughs and the occasional scotch/brandy whatever, back in the '80's.

Dear Lana -
My most sincere condolences on the passing of John. It was with profound shock when I read about his unexpected passing. In the days since, I remember John as "my favourite boss", always positive, always helpful, and forever full of creative ideas to try something new. I truly hope that both of you were able to live your dream, giving equal time to two of John's favourite pastimes: golf during the Summer season in Saskatchewan and skiing in B.C.'s winter wonderland.
My heart goes out to you, Lana! Please remember me as a friend - and please call me if I can be of help in any way. Also be assured that my thoughts are with you, wishing you a lot of strength and courage for this phase of life that no one could ever have imagined....
This from a long lost friend, who has never forgotten all the kindness extended by both of you so many years ago.
In deepest sympathy,
Gabriele Burmeister (Saskatoon)

I believe John and I first met in kindergarten. We were in the same class from grades one to eight and then went on to WMCI together — lots of memories playing ball and hockey and hanging out. My sincere condolences to the family.

All though it has been a few years since we have been able to tee it up, I still recall and enjoyed your dry humour and timely friendly jabs when one of us duffed a shot. My favourite John’ism. When a player once wanted to join our threesome to make a foursome. John: “ No thanks, we already have three”.
Keep hitting that high draw, John. I hear there is no wind in heaven.
