Obituary of Nykola Lozowchuk

LOZOWCHUK, NYKOLA (BUD)
September 15, 1931 – April 8, 2019

We are saddened to announce the passing of Nykola (Bud) Lozowchuk on April 8, 2019. Bud was born to Wasyl and Anna Lozowchuk near Hafford, Saskatchewan on September 15, 1931. He went to Teachers’ College in Saskatoon and then taught for a couple of years in rural Saskatchewan but the lure of adventure led him to join the Air Force and move to Quebec. Transferred to Alberta, he met his future wife, Ollie in Edmonton in 1956 and after a whirlwind courtship they married. Bud was transferred to France and they spent four happy years touring around every chance they got. This gave them the travelling bug that lasted for the rest of their married life. Eventually, with three daughters in tow, they landed in Saskatoon in 1965. Bud was a salesman for many years and spent long days on the road. He was always happy to get back to his home and his family. He loved working on things. We called him Bud the Beaver because he was always building. Bud and Ollie travelled all over. As well as exploring Europe, they had great trips to Fiji, Brazil, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and all over the US and Canada. In between trips, they worked on their house and the farm and their gardens. After their retirements, they started a new collectibles business at the farm. They loved to plant flowers everywhere and raise masses of vegetables for all to share. Their home was always open to others to visit or to stay at. Bud was a loving husband and father. He will be sorely missed by his wife, Ollie, his brother Yaroslaw and his three daughters: Patricia Lozowchuk (Tom Ray), Lisa (Dave) Kizuk, and Dayna Lozowchuk (Stu Cousins). Bud’s last three years were spent in the Temperance-Munroe Unit at Luther Special Care Home where he was comfortable and happy, especially when his favourite person, Shelly, was working. The family would like to thank Dr. Myles Deutscher for the care he took of Bud, taking the time to come and visit him.  We would also like to thank the staff of the unit for the exceptional kindness they showed Bud over these last few years. We appreciate everything you did for Bud and for the family. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 10:00 AM from All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 2616 Louise St. Saskatoon Sask. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Luther Special Care Home, 1212 Osler St. Saskatoon, Sask. S7N 0T9.
