Obituary of Kay Chirpilo

KC’s journey through this life came to an end Sunday, April 7, 2019. KC was 87 years old. Mom was born on the family farm near Foston, SK to Anne and Mike Danchuk. Mom was the youngest of three sisters. The family moved to Saskatoon in the late 1930’s. Mom met Peter in 1948 and they were married in 1949. They had one son Mike.

For most of her working life, Mom worked for the Bessborough Hotel a career which lasted almost forty years. Upon her leaving the Bessborough she opened KC’s gift shop which the family operated for fifteen years.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, sisters Mary and Nellie, husband Peter and Daughter-in-law Shelley. KC is survived by her son Mike and many nieces and nephews.

Mom’s last two-and-one-half years were spent at St. Joseph’s Home in Saskatoon where she became a member of their family. This was home for Mom surrounded by love and caring from staff and the Sisters of St. Joseph’s. St. Joseph’s embraced Mom as she embraced St. Joseph’s.
