Obituary of Doris Ruth Simpson
Doris passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Rose Villa in Rosetown where she had spent the last year of her life. Doris was born February 14, 1929 in Tisdale. She grew up there and at 16 she moved to Saskatoon with her parents. She graduated from Bedford Road Collegiate and went on to go to Normal School where she received her teacher’s certificate. She taught school in the Saskatoon School District. She met Tom Simpson and they were married in 1951. They settled in Milden and raised their family of three boys and three girls. She taught school in some of those years and was involved in the United Church, teaching Messengers and Explorers. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Royal Purple. In 1982 Mom and Dad moved to Saskatoon where she lived until 2018. Mom enjoyed embroidering, quilting and made many beautiful quilts for her family. She loved sewing, reading and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her parents Ephraim and Edith (Hunt) Barager, her husband Tom in 2005, son Norman in 1996, daughter Donna in 2010 and grandson Derrick in 2019. She is lovingly remembered by her family, son Raymond (Gloria) and children Jeff (Michelle and children Austin and Avery), Greg and Courtney (Jon), granddaughters Jamie (Corey and daughter Patience), Ashley, and Allyson, daughter Carol and son Jory, daughter Janice (Aaron and children Erin (Jason and daughters Aurora, Belle and Emma), Jessie, Matthew (Meagan and sons Rourke and Whyatt), Cole and Rebecca, son Tom (Linda and children Josh, Kendall, Amy, Norman, and Sadie. We celebrated Mom’s 90th birthday in Rosetown this year. There will be a Celebration of her life Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 1:00 pm from Saskatoon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rosetown Health Centre, Rose Villa Long Term Care 409 Hwy #4 North, Rosetown, SK S0L 2V0.
