Obituary of Doris Sybil Magnusson

Doris Sybil Magnusson
Doris was born June 25, 1929 near Edgeworth, Sask to Erik & Esther Svedahl. She was one of five children and she had many memories of growing up on the farm.  Doris attended school in Edgeworth, then finished her schooling in Ogema, Sask before marrying her first husband Norman Krueger. They had 5 children together and had moved around to several places before settling in Esterhazy, Sk.  After Norm passed away in 1973, Doris was remarried to Ted Magnusson. They moved to Ted’s farm in Churchbridge, Sask until Ted retired from faming and they moved to Kelowna, BC. They ended up back in Churchbridge in 1985, as they both missed the prairies. After the passing of Ted, Doris moved to Regina to be closer to her family. Her last move was to Saskatoon where she had support from her children until her passing.

Doris always had a huge garden and loved to show everyone her beautiful flower beds.  She would spend hours and hours weeding and pruning until it looked perfect. She kept busy sewing, knitting, quilting and mending our clothes. Mom loved to bake; or at least it seemed that way, as we always had fresh home-made bread along with cookies or dainties.

 Doris was very active in the Lutheran Church including being part of the choir, council, the LCW and even being church treasurer. She loved dancing, and she and Ted participated in several square-dancing events.   She was in a bowling league and went to seniors’ playoffs in Humboldt, Sk one year.  Doris was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and she always greeted her visitors with a warm smile.

Doris was predeceased by her parents Erik & Esther; first husband Norman; second husband Ted; her brothers Carl Olson, Trygve Olson, Bernard Svedahl; her sister Annette Grainger and son-in-law, Patrick Christopher.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Darlene Christopher, Debbie Krueger, sons Gary Krueger, Dennis (Cindy) Krueger, Eric (Yvonne) Krueger, grand children Dustin (Megan) Krueger, Brittany (Cole) Kachur, Scott Krueger, Amanda Guldiman, Michael Krueger, and great grandchildren Nola & August Kachur, Emily & Mackenzie Guldiman. Her sisters-in-law Shirley Olson and Eleanor Svedahl as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
