Muriel McFaull – Aged to Perfection
May 31, 1923 – March 24, 2019

Muriel Irene McFaull (nee Morrison) celebrated the last day of a life well-lived on Sunday, March 24, 2019. Moo’s beautiful, caring, creative spirit was freed to soar to the heavens to find the peace and joy she so richly deserved. We, the family and friends of Muriel, also known to many as Moo, are of course saddened by our loss but overjoyed with the memory of a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, mother-in-law, aunt, friend, all-around-extraordinary woman who was colourful in both personality and wardrobe, accomplished, energetic, honourable, practical, a person of deep faith, loving, humourous, supportive, a lifelong learner and teacher and dispenser of advice and sharp one-liners. If you knew her, you have experienced what cannot be written.
In May of 1923, Helen, a dedicated homemaker and community volunteer, and Herb Sr., the postmaster and fire chief of Zealandia, SK were overjoyed with the arrival of their first child, Muriel. Her happy childhood revolved around faith, family, community, love of music and sports, all of which followed her into adulthood.
Studying Home Economics at the University of Saskatchewan, Muriel, a dark-haired, exotic beauty, was also quite busy considering numerous suitors. Her only sibling, Herb Jr. did his bit to steer a young man by the name of Jack (JY) McFaull into “first position”. But in truth, the die was already cast. JY, a handsome, hometown sweetheart, was far and away her #1 and would remain so for the next fifty-three years until his passing, and was in her heart forever. These two came as a pair and JY freely admitted that none of the great things he accomplished would ever have been possible without Muriel, the “wind beneath his wings”.
Throughout her life, Muriel raised and praised and loved unconditionally four children, four grandchildren, and two great-children. She was an active community volunteer, a legal conveyor for her brother’s law firm, a choir member, a painter of prairie landscapes. She played tennis with such verve that she broke a hip during a particularly feisty game. She was an adventurous world traveller and curiosity seeker, a fashionista who never met a bright colour she didn’t like, an avid fan of the “Roughies”, and a charter member of Grosvenor Park United Church. She was the consummate hostess but did not enjoy cooking. Even so, Moo’s Stew, tomato aspic and Peter’s Slice were legendary as were her skills around a card table, particularly at the Saskatoon Bridge Club.
Many will remember Muriel for her ability to listen, offer guidance and wisdom when solicited, encourage spirited conversation—correcting grammar when necessary, enjoy a good laugh, and show love and admiration for others. She did all of these things in her beautiful, elegant, gracious way until her very last day on this earth.
Muriel is survived by a world-full of friends and family. Closer to home, she leaves behind her beloved children: Dan (Connie McElman), Terry, Eldeen (Neil Stein), Herb (Tony Bidulka), abundantly cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jennifer (Jeff) Boeda (with Sophie and Penny Boeda), Dylan (Marlies Krueger) Schultz, Michael (Robin Cervantez) McFaull, Spencer (Jasmine Mclean) Stein, very special friend, adopted daughter, caregiver and confidante Patricia (Lynne Lacroix) Nicholson, and McFaull and Morrison nephews and their families.

A service to remember and celebrate the rich, full life of Muriel McFaull will be held at McClure United Church, 4025 Taylor St E, Saskatoon on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with a Reception to follow. In honour of her love for bright, joyously coloured clothing and jewellery, if you have something like that in your wardrobe, please wear it.
