As a retired member of the Saskatoon Police Service, I was very sorry to hear about Bobs. He was a very good Prosecutor and loved to keep things light before court by always telling a joke or funny story. Through Madelene Smith, I knew of his involvement with the Dixieland Jazz band and had the pleasure of hearing him play on many occasions. Bobs loved people and always had a smile on his face and a laugh waiting to happen. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My condolences to his family.

To the family of Bobs
I was saddened to learn of the passing of Bobs.
Bobs and I go back many years to Albert School, and although we did not cross paths that often, we did seem to meet periodically over the years.
We do have fond memories of times at Emma Lake, where Bobs and the Dixieland Jazz Band, performed at Smith's cottage.
From a very young age, Bobs was always a fun, cheerful and happy person.
My sympathies are extended to the entire family.

Sincere sympathy, Bev and family. Knew Bobs from his childhood when he visited his 2 aunts and jumped off their porch roof and then later at Nutana including your first date.

I met Bobs during my time on the Board of Directors of the Saskatoon Jazz Society. Bobs told me many stories about the early days of the original Bassment club and another connection that we had — we were both Intensely Vigorous College Nine alumni. The Saskatoon Jazz Society has its 40th anniversary on April 1 of this year and I am very grateful for the vision that Bobs and other founders had to ensure the longevity of this organization. My sincere condolences to Bev and the rest of the family.

I could not begin to relate all of of my memories of “Bobs”. They go away back to my early years at U of S. I was Advertising Manager for the Sheaf, and Bobs wrote a hilarious column in it for quite a while. We were in Law school together and he was one of those unforgettable people it is a gift to know. His sense of humour was extraordinary, and of course I was around during the time of the Intensly Vigorous College Nine and many other escapades.
Later on, he appeared before me many times as a prosecutor, where he managed to integrate his professional expertise with his personality. He never lost the twinkle in his eye, then or when he sat as a Judge himself.
There are only a few of us left. I remember when he married his Bev (I married one too) and send my condolences to Bev and all the family. I will miss him too.
Bob
