Brian Raskob

Obituary of Brian Raskob

October 25, 1952 - March 10, 2019

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Brian, following his courageous battle with cancer. He spent the final part of his journey in his home, cared for by his loved ones, and passed with his loving wife by his side.

Brian leaves to mourn, his wife Diane; son Colin (Caro Ricard); daughter Jana (Nels Pederson); grandkids Mariah and Beau Pederson; two sisters Bev (Ralph) Schultz and Brenda (Mark) Dinsmore; sister-in-law Gail Dickson; and brothers-in-law Bob (Arleen) Will and Brian Will and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Greg and Blanche Raskob; brother Bruce Raskob; and parents-in-law Roy and Marilou Will; along with his grandparents and several aunts and uncles. He will be missed by many other relatives and so many dear friends.

Brian was born and raised in Saskatoon and following his elementary and high school education, worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance briefly in Edmonton. Brian started his automotive career with the Sherwood group and then joined Wheaton GM in 1988 until his retirement in 2013. He was well respected in his positions in the car sales industry.

Brian met his wife, Diane, in 1973 and they were married in 1976. They enjoyed a loving marriage with their children, Colin and Jana. Brian was the best husband and a proud father, being a lifetime support to all the family activities including dancing, hockey, music and art. Brian's grandkids, Mariah and Beau, were his true pride and joy and he loved to spoil them. He was also very fond of the family pets along the way.

Brian enjoyed sharing a genuine interest in story telling with all he knew and met. He had a quick sense of wit, as well as a sharp memory, recalling details of many things. He enjoyed several fun trips in his life, including three visits to Tokyo Disneyland to watch Jana perform. He took numerous trips to Montreal where he fulfilled one of his life dreams to see an NHL hockey game with Colin.

Brian was a true warrior through his illness, defying many odds on his nearly 6 year long journey with cancer. He fought a very tough fight. Thanks to all the oncology staff at the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic for their wonderful care. We would like to acknowledge all of Brian's doctors in the hospital and the palliative-home care program who gave such excellent care.

Brian (Rab) will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. ln lieu of flowers the family would request a donation to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. A cerebration of Brian's life will be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Road) on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 10:00 A.M.
