Obituary of Neil Raymond Currie
NEIL R. CURRIE
April 12, 1950 – December 14, 2018
Neil passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 14, 2018. He had struggled with
respiratory disease for many years and fought hard to maintain his independence. Neil leaves to
mourn his sons Paul (Gayle) and their children Madalynn, Parker and Sabrinna and great
granddaughter Annabella, of Saskatoon and son Michael (Natalie) of Winnipeg. Neil is also
survived by his brother Wayne and sister Leah (Fran) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Margie and Ralph Currie and sister-in-law, Laura Currie.
Neil worked for 32 years at the Canadian Grain Commission as a grain inspector. With an
inquisitive mind and urge to create, Neil had an innate ability to invent things. He constantly
came up with unique ideas and worked hard to put those ideas into reality. In his younger years
he was an adventuresome man, taking on river trips, travelling to northern areas and enjoying
the outdoors. After marrying his then wife Theresa, they bought a house and put down their family roots in Saskatoon.
Everyone who knew Neil, understood that he was a man that “beat to his own drum”. He spoke
his mind, cheered for the underdog, held firm to his beliefs and opinions and loved to chat about
current day affairs. Underneath it all, he had the kindest of hearts. Neil loved his sons dearly
and was very proud of them. He always put family first in his life.
A service will be held Friday, December 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the Saskatoon Funeral Home, 388 Fourth Avenue North. The family asks any donations are directed to the Canadian Lung Association.
