Arthur Yaworski, age 88, of Viscount, SK passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 11th, 2018 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. The second child of German immigrate parents, Otto & Martha Yaworski, Arthur was born on September 14th, 1930 on a farm near Bruno, SK. Shortly after, his parents purchased a small parcel of land in the Viscount municipality where they lived in a two-room shack with a small granary attached near an alkali slough. This was his childhood home as he remembered. He started school with his sister Margaret in the spring of 1937, at the time, knowing very little English. Arthur loved school but had to stay home a lot to help his dad with farming. He drove the horses in the field at age 10 and an old steel-wheeled McCormick 15-30 tractor at age 11. By the time he was 15, he was forced to quit school and run an old Twin City threshing machine. He spent his years until the age of 25 helping his dad in the summer months and working in Saskatoon in the winter. During the winter of 1955, he met the love of his life Beate Rinas, although it took until April 1956 for her to agree to go on a date with him. He was persistent and it paid off because they were engaged in August and married by October of that same year. In the spring of 1957, Art and Beate made their home on 2 quarters of land a short distance from his parent’s farm in Viscount. This is where he lived the rest of his life.
Art and Beate were blessed with an amazing 62 years of married life together. Their life together included 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Art continued to farm but also successfully obtained his pilot’s license in 1967. Flying was his true passion. He owned and operated many different planes through the years doing aerial crop spraying and taking trips, flying all over Canada and the United States. In the winter of 1997, Art and Beate purchased a place in Mesa, Arizona. They loved their winters in the warm Arizona sun but by spring they were happy to get back home and to farming. In his later years, he farmed less but was still found in his machine shop with a wrench in his hand. He could fix anything.
Arthur is survived by his wife and best friend, Beate Yaworski; Children: daughter-in-law Wendy Yaworski of Humboldt, Deborah (Doug) Thoms of Viscount, Ronald (Chris) Yaworski of Calgary, Lorne Yaworski of Vancouver and Lorie (Patrick) Tetzlaff of Saskatoon; Grandchildren: Geoffrey Yaworski of Humboldt, Ryan (Jessica) Yaworski of Beauval, Landon Yaworski & Taylor Molsberry of Humboldt; Bradley (Heidi) Thoms of Saskatoon, Nicole (Bryce) Roessner of Calgary, Meghan (Kevin) Goudie of Calgary, Dennis Thoms of Viscount; Eric Tetzlaff of Saskatoon and Reese Tetzlaff of Saskatoon; Great-grandchildren: Grayson Thoms and Maxon Thoms, both of Saskatoon; Sisters: Margaret (Robert) Bailey of Nipawin, Evelyn (Ernie) Anderson of Outlook; Brother: August Yaworski of Humboldt; Brother-in-law: Alvin (Sigrun) Rinas of Shellbrook and numerous nieces and nephews.
