Obituary of Kenneth Robert Ramsay
Ken was born October 2, 1929 at Cut Knife, SK. He passed away December 4, 2018 at the Humboldt Hospital in Humboldt, SK. As a young man, Ken left home and went to work in Regina where he met the love of his life, Doreen Beryl Kendall. They were married in Regina, January 7, 1949. From Regina, they moved to Saskatoon, where they had their two children, Beverly & Mervyn. Their next home was Birch Hills, after which they moved to Prince Albert where Ken worked as a book keeper for P.A. Electric and started his first water softener business, Miracle Water. Ken made many good friends there and was the Grand Exalted Ruler for the Elks Club in Prince Albert. During their time in Prince Albert, Ken and Doreen loved to go camping and fishing in the northern lakes of Saskatchewan. Ken worked at other businesses such as, Trans Canada Pipe Lines as an inspector, and for Green Cross as a sales Representative where he won numerous top salesperson awards. Ken and Doreen then moved to Humboldt where he worked in accounting for Wilf Chamney at the Flour Mills. He then opened his own business, Ken Ramsay Agency-Butler Buildings, in Humboldt. Ken worked as Executive Assistant to Louis Domotor, the Minister of Agriculture at the time and following that, until his retirement, worked as a liquor inspector for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming. Ken & Doreen retired and travelled extensively around the world and then to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary they took a cruise around the world. Later they bought a winter home in Mesa, Arizona where they spent a number of years making great friends and memories. In his later years, they sold their home in Humboldt, residing at Caleb Village until their final move to Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson, SK. Ken was predeceased by his wife, Doreen; father Havilland Ramsay and mother Raymonde (Gigot) Ramsay; brothers Hal, Albert, Donald & a baby brother; sister Evelyn Beaudry; mother-in-law & father-in-law Mabel and Isaac Kendall; brothers-in-law Ken (Vivien), Ray & Nap (Betty) Kendall. He is survived by his daughter Beverly (Gene) and their family, Aaron (Wilma), Alison, and Graham; Jason (Daniel); Trevor (Carla), Aulden, Owen & Niles; Gina (Duc); Tamzen (Rory). Son Mervyn (Naomi) and their family, Tammi (Craig), & Michelle; Rona (Cal) & Kiana; Tina (Steve), Cole & Daniel; Carla (David) & Corbin; sister Shirley Dawson, USA, as well as many nieces and nephews. There will be no funeral or remembrance ceremony as per Ken’s request. The family will be hosting a time of remembrance at a later date, and spreading both Ken & Doreen’s ashes under their purchased memory tree. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge Building Fund (400 – 3rd Ave. North, Watson, SK. S0K 4V0).
