So sorry to learn of Doug's passing. I remember well his jokes and stories. He & Crystal would come to visit often for coffee. I remember when they started their little family and they would stop by. I remember all his many inventions and all the innovative ideas he had to make his bike able to carry all the treasures he would come across. Deepest condolences to his children, Crystal and family. Rest in peace Doug.

My condolences. Grew up with Doug through elementary school and he was always a nice guy. Before u left Saskatoon I would see him around and say hi. I don't think he remembered me (being a year or so younger) but always gave a smile.

So very shocked and saddened to see this. Doug was a friend of my family for years and helped my Dad(Hal) on so many occasions. Loved Doug's sense of humor and kind words. He was always there to help myself and my Dad in his home on Avenue F South. Doug was always trying to help, if he came upon you wanting for anything he would have it in his coat or he would find it for you. He always had good things to say about everyone and a handful of funny jokes up his sleeve.
His miscevious sparkling eyes and his smile will be sadly missed by my family.
Heartfelt condolences to all his Family and Friends.

My little brother & best friend. We were inseparable as little ones. A year and a day apart in bdays. You loved that, me not so much! Always having to share our party’s & mom dressed us as twins, you were lucky you didn’t have to wear a dress but I looked like a boy! I can hear your chuckle over that one :))
You had a short life but also a long & very hard one, I am sorry for that my lil bro :( You had the biggest heart & loved me very much as well as my girls. Always a smile & a gift from Uncle Doug! You have four wonderful sons & I know you were proud & loved them. I will do my best to be a good auntie & support as best I can, promise.
This city has lost a very important citizen, one who tried, one who cared & all just to be appreciated, noticed & loved. You will be missed, this I know.
Your were loved little brother and will always be remembered for being so so very good!!
I will see you one day again & we will share the biggest party ever!!!
Xoxo Barbie

For those of you that knew my uncle Doug you know he was always joking( mostly inappropriate jokes). I wish I could remember at least one lol and playing tricks. I too thought he was a magician. He had pockets everywhere and on hand almost every tool you would need!
Doug had a big heart and he tried hard to do good things for so many people!! Even when he was suffering to get by himself.
Many of you know him as the man with the bike!! He had made a contraption that attached to his bike and housed all the yard supplies one would need to help clean the streets of down town.
Lots of memories around Christmas time. Almost every year we would get together to celebrate Christmas. I think that’s when I will think of you the most and miss you.
I hope you are no longer suffering. Spread your wings and fly uncle Doug. You are now free.....
RIP

I have many fond memories of my Uncle Doug from when I was a child. He used to joke around all the time, play tricks and pull the most amazing things out of his pockets! I remember one time he opened his jacket up and it displayed at least 50 watches! And he said “pick whatever one you want”! Well as a child of course this was pretty spectacular! I thought he was a magician! He would always trick me by making a meow sound so I would think there was a cat somewhere! Never met another person who could imitate a cat so well!
Besides all the funny stories, uncle Doug had a heart of gold, and lit up every time I saw him. He will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace Uncle. Love you. XXXX Shy
