Obituary of Marjory Isabelle Nevins

NEVINS, Marjory Sarah Isobel

November 8, 1917 – September 28, 2018

The family of Marjory Nevins are saddened to announce her passing on Friday, September 28, 2018 peacefully at St. Paul ’s Hospital Palliative Care unit at the age of 100.  Marjory was born in Darlington, County Durham , England on November 8, 1917.  In 1943 she met a Canadian pilot, Clifford whom she married in 1944.  Marjory and Clifford had a loving marriage for 66 years until his passing in 2009.  Marjory came to Canada as a war bride in March 1945 arriving by ship in Halifax and going on to Montreal by train to join her husband who had arrived in Canada in February 1945.  In 1948 they moved to Prince Albert .  There were a few moves, to Swift Current, Moose Jaw and Regina as Clifford was transferred with work.  After retirement they moved to Saskatoon in 1995.  Marjory and Clifford enjoyed travelling to the USA , Britain and France but especially to Maui , Hawaii where they spent 25 winters.  Marjory loved to dance and enjoyed playing bridge and bowling even winning a few trophies.  She was an active member of the Anglican Church’s A.C.W.  Marjory will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sandra (David) Evans of Saskatoon; granddaughter, Kelly Craig (Kim Norland) of Lake Las Vegas , Nevada ; great grandson, Tristan; sister, Joyce Murray of Darlington , England and many nieces and nephews in the UK .  She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Lavinia Iveson; sister, Ethel Dawson (Armond) of Darlington , England ; brother, Tony Iveson of Capetown South Africa and brother-in-law David Murray.  A special thanks to the residents and staff of Luther Riverside Terrace where Marjory resided for the last 8 years.  Also to the staff of Palliative Care at St. Paul ’s Hospital for making the last weeks of Marjory’s life as comfortable as possible.  As per Marjory’s wishes there will be no funeral service and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
