Obituary of Eleanor Lydia Davies
Eleanor (nee Howard) Of Saskatoon, died on August 3, 2018 after a short illness. She was born on December 18, 1913 to William and Marion Howard of Lanigan, SK, the eldest of five children. She graduated from the Saskatoon Normal School in 1932 and began teaching primary school grades in Kelliher, SK. She began teaching at Colonsay, SK in 1942. In 1944 she married Arthur Davies of Colonsay and they had three children: Beatrice, Bill and Philip. She was the Grade 1 teacher for several generations of children in Colonsay and is fondly remembered. In 1972 they moved to Saskatoon. She retired from teaching in 1973. In 1996 she moved into an apartment in Luther Towers in Saskatoon where she lived for more than twenty years. She is survived by her children Beatrice Rutherford, Bill Davies, and Philip Davies; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild, her namesake (Ellie) of Regina; and her sister Isabel Whitehouse of Peterborough, ON. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Arthur Davies of Colonsay; her siblings Ralph Howard of Calgary, Evelyn (Billie) Blake of Prince Albert, and Ken Howard of Regina. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home, (338 4th Avenue N, Saskatoon). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Saskatoon Community Clinic Foundation.
