Obituary of Michael Zadorozny

It is with profound sadness that the family of Michael Zadorozny announces his unexpected passing at Langham Care Home on May 12, 2018. He made his transition peacefully with his two daughters by his side.
Dad was born on November 11, 1928 on the family farm in Hafford. He attended Albertown rural school, completed grade 12 at Craigmore high school, then graduated from Teacher’s College (Normal School) in 1946. In 1958 he was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Arts.
While teaching in the Blaine Lake area, dad met mom. They married on November 19, 1949. After teaching at various rural schools in Saskatchewan they settled in Langham in 1961.
Teaching was dad’s passion for 37 years. For 27 of those years he was the principal of Langham Elementary School. At age 54 he retired from teaching but not working! Over the years he helped build three houses in Langham and the family cabin at Murray Lake. Dad’s other jobs included being a meat inspector for Intercontinental Packers as well as owning his own painting business. For the next 10 years he worked for the Saskatoon West School Unit driving special needs students to various schools in Saskatoon. After that, retirement! Dad was meticulous! His perfectly mowed grass and “spit-shined” vehicles were the envy of all who passed by.
Mom and dad were avid travelers. Their favourite destinations were Hawaii and Mexico where dad was always looking to add to his “Rolex” watch collection. He always liked to be busy…enjoying yard work, restoring furniture, playing cards and games, dancing, babysitting and shopping for everyone but himself. Watching curling and the Toronto Blue Jays were favourite pastimes of his.
Family was all important to him. He loved his family! He supported his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in all that they did. He was proud of all their accomplishments…he was their biggest fan! His quick wit and sense of humour endeared him to all.
Community involvement and volunteering were important. In the past he participated on many boards and would lend a helping hand where needed. In 2012, after 61 years or marriage dad lost his wife, Elsie. She was love of his life, social planner and back seat driver.
He will be dearly missed by his daughters Trish; Marilyn (Doug) Tarasoff; grandson Derek (Bobbie) Tarasoff; granddaughter Allison (Devan) Oborowsky; great granddaughters Jada and Drew Tarasoff; Kaia and Karris Oborowsky; sisters Nadia Degutis; Virginia (Paul) Nykiforuk; brother Walter (Rosemarie) Zadorozny; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Although dad lived “ to a good old age” it is no consolation to the amount of sadness that we feel over the loss of someone who contributed so much to all our lives.
The service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home; 338 Fourth Avenue North, Saskatoon.
We, the family would like to thank the staff at Langham Care Home for making his new residence truly a “home”. He appreciated all the care that was given to him. His daily expressions of gratitude were indeed genuine.
We also express our appreciation to those who have displayed what caring and friendship really entails. The visits that dad got after mom died meant so much to him even though he was a man “of few words”. The time that you spent with him brought sunshine into his long days.
