Obituary of Margaret Anne Brennan

Margaret Anne Brennan was born in Saskatoon on March 20, 1928, her Mother’s birthday and passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Nursing Home on May 7, 2018.

She attended St. Joseph’s School and Nutana Collegiate. She was voted Senior Pin by the student’s in her final year at Nutana. She also attended the University of Saskatchewan for 2 years before deciding to join the work force. She worked for several businesses including General Motors Parts Department. In June, 1956 she decided to travel to England and visit Scotland and countries on the continent and spent the better part of the next 14 years abroad.

Margaret worked in London for a time and then decided to become a nurse. She graduated with her RN from the Royal Free Hospital in London in 1962. During her nursing career, she worked in Surrey, England; Hamilton, ON and Burlingame, CA. In early 1965, she and a friend traveled by ship to many destinations. In the course of her travels Margaret saw Japan, Australia, Istanbul and much of the European continent. She continue nursing in England until her return to Saskatoon in 1970, where she nursed at Royal University Hospital until her retirement in 1991.

In her youth, Margaret was a Highland dancer and throughout her life loved music – singing with both the Saskatoon Choral Society and the St. Francis Xavier church choir. She was a season ticket holder with the Saskatoon Symphony as well as being a member of the CWL.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents Dan and Jean Brennan; brother Jim and his wife Phyllis; brother Bill and his wife Johnell; niece Colleen Flett; nephew in law Gary Beckie; brother in law Ray East and two very special aunts Elizabeth and Mary Forbes.

She is survived by her sisters, Betty Brennan and Joan East as well as many nieces and nephews and their families who were very special to her.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 222 Willow Street, Saskatoon beginning at 10:30 a.m.
