Obituary of Margaret Larden

Margaret Frances Larden, age 89, moved to Heaven peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Parkridge Centre in Saskatoon.  “Marg” was born at home, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, on July 12, 1928, the youngest child of Joseph and Annie Noble.  She attended school in Moose Jaw, working part time at Hall’s Candy Shop during high school.  After graduating from Moose Jaw Central Collegiate, Marg took a one-year course at Moose Jaw Business College, then commenced work at York Auto Supply.  She was also active in her church and, as a member of the Gospel Singers, sang weekly on the radio broadcast.
From York Auto Supply, Marg moved to work at CP Express in Moose Jaw, where one of the benefits was a trip pass, which enabled her to regularly visit a friend in Saskatoon.  On one of those visits, she met Robert (“Bob”) Larden. They were engaged on May 14, 1954 and married on September 11, 1954.  They moved to Swift Current, where Bob had been called to pastor.
In 1964, Bob and Marg moved to Calgary, as Bob had accepted the position of Canadian Field Representative with the Apostolic church of Pentecost.  Marg became secretary-treasurer of the Downtown Full Gospel Church and was very active in Sunday School administration.
Marg and Bob moved to Saskatoon in 1977 and shortly thereafter Bob was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.  This necessitated Marg returning to the work force on a full-time basis.  She took a position as executive assistant at Sherbrooke Community Centre, from which she retired in 1994, having been honoured with the Spirit of Sherbrooke Award for her compassion, hard work and generous spirit.
Following her retirement from Sherbrooke, Marg looked after the young children of family friends and was active in the lives of her neighbours and friends.  In 2006, she moved to Elim Lodge, enjoying condo life and more new friends.  She was also very involved with the Avalon Alliance Church.  As her health declined, Marg was admitted to Parkridge Centre in 2015, following a lengthy hospitalization.
Marg’s sparkling eyes and ready smile brought joy to many throughout her life.  Her sense of humour never waned and she was consistent in her care for others and her walk with her Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Marg was predeceased by her husband, Bob; her parents, Joseph and Annie; her siblings, Stan Noble and Ruth Baxter, and their spouses.
She is dearly loved and remembered by her daughter, Brenda Hildebrandt, and countless friends whose lives she impacted.  A service in celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at Avalon Alliance Church (413 Cascade Street).  If desired, donations specifically marked in memory of Margaret Larden may be made to Parkridge Centre for its music programming.
