Obituary of Leo Alan Schmidt

Schmidt, Leo Alan August 1, 1933 – April 11, 2018

It is with deep sadness the family of Leo Schmidt announces his death on April 11, 2018. Leo is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Fern; his son Garry and daughter Barbara (Robert Trotchie); his sisters Fern (Lloyd) Hanke of Llodminster, Betty Trapp of Saskatoon and Lovina (Rick) Bischler of Martensville. He is predeceased by his parents Albert and Lovina; brothers Henry, Clarence, Glen, Dale, Albert and sister Ellen. Leo was born August 1, 1933 in the Sonningdale area of Saskatchewan. As a young man, he moved to Saskatoon and worked in the Stucco and Plastering trade for 47 years. Leo enjoyed the outdoors as an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed watching sports and didn’t miss a game when there was Curling, the Saskatchewan Roughriders or the toronto Blue Jays playing. As a member of the ANAVETS Unit #38 for 45 years, he enjoyed playing in the pool and dart leagues and helping out with the Friday Night Meat draws. The family would like to thank the Home Care  Nurses for their compassionatre care for Leo during his brief illness with cancer. Their will be a celebration of Leo’s life on Monday, April 16 at 2:00 pm at the ANAVETS, 359 1st Ave. North. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
