I am so sorry for your devastating loss. My deepest condolences. Susan was my boss, mentor and most importantly, a dear friend. Her dedication to her work was only topped by her love of her family. She cherished her children, parents, family so much. I was so privileged to meet you all in November, when she toured me around Saskatoon. Coffee with her Mom and Dad, shopping of course, dinner with her boys (amazing!!) and then a family football game with great food and family.
Ian, Eric and Alex - your words at the funeral were so filled with love and honour. You spoke of how supported you felt by the calls, condolences and presence of so many, but you were all inspirational to us. You comforted us, in this most painful of times. You are truly your Mother's sons.

Being a Saskatchewan boy myself, I always felt a strong kinship with Susan in our work here at CBS. I wish I could say kinship led to special treatment from her, but more often it resulted in her choosing to remind me of my many shortcomings. I own a cheaper version of her car, and always took holidays at less exotic locations. I even looked the wrong way down the halls of Holy Cross High School many years ago or I may have seen her first versus my wife and who knows what might have been.
A treat like Susan rarely comes any of our way, and we are all so much worse without her. It was an honor to know her as a colleague and a friend, and one for which I will be forever grateful.

My deepest condolences to Susan’s family especially to her three sons. Although I have never met any of you I feel like I know you as Susan spoke of you often.
Susan and I worked together for over twenty years. During that time we attended many meetings together. Meetings that could become very heated as all wanted to get their point across. Susan would sit there and listen and then in a perfectly modulated voice would give a synopsis of what she had heard and then give the solution and she would have the agreement of all in attendance. A very rare gift.
The world has lost a beautiful, beautiful soul and heaven has gained an angel.
Rest In Peace my dear friend.

On one occasion, she shared a rap video about living in the Prairies that one of them had wrote, sang and filmed with his friends, and had posted online. Dear Alex, Eric, Ian and family,
I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Susan’s passing. I cannot imagine the heartache you must feel. Words are inadequate to ease your pain. I don’t think there are enough words in the dictionary to sum up how much Susan meant to me and those around her. Susan was my mentor, colleague and friend. Even though she had a wealth of knowledge and experience she always shared her interest and support when I rarely taught her something new. With every action and word Susan made me feel valued and part of her tribe. She had an immense sense of adventure and fun. Even when situations were tough, she could always coax a smile out of everyone. Susan was a brilliant soul. She lit up every room with her smile and infectious spirit.
Even though we have never met, I have heard many stories and seen many pictures of Susan’s family. You were her heart and greatest love and pride. I pray in time your tears will turn to smiles when you think of her and the times you shared together.
Remembering with you, the life of Susan, your beloved mother, daughter, sister and dearest friend.

Dear family,
We are deeply saddened by Susan’s departure. Susan could always be counted on to share her ideas and feedback; to listen to others with her full attention, and to lighten the mood of a meeting with humour. Susan made a career with Canadian Blood Services, and that reflects her dedication to helping others better their lives. Susan’s 37 year career is also an indication of the skills, talent, and high regard that the organization had of her. Regardless of the role that Susan had, she always made a point of attending the annual celebration of milestone donors in Saskatoon. Susan never lost sight of the importance of blood donors and always wished to participate in recognizing their valuable contribution. During ‘down’ times at work, such as waiting for air flights to Saskatoon from meetings in Ottawa, Susan would often regale us with stories about her family and friends. Alex, Eric, and Ian, you may not know us, but we know you!
Susan was always a leader, a valued colleague, and to many, a cherished friend. The members of the Prairie team will truly miss Susan and wish to pass along our deepest condolences.

"Moonlight is the proof that there will always be light in darkness" The sparkling stars will remind me of such a GOOD friend. We met Susan thru soccer. Susan became a mentor for our family without her knowledge. With in a short period of time our boys would reference Susan as "Aunty" out of pure respect. Truly, one of the most INTELLIGENT woman I have ever met. We would tease back in forth about her amazing sense of style (and my lack of style) She always encouraged me to let my hair out of my ponytail...on Thursday I will for her. When I think of an amazing necklace,a pair of shoes or a fabulous purse...I think of Susan. , We often shared our favorite recipes. Susan was a AMAZING cook ! Together we enjoyed those appey nights out (Susan loved her wings!) and our tea nights in on the couch. When I sip a gin and tonic or have a martini...I will always think of Susan. Susan introduced me to the double cheese burger made like mac..(thanks to Ian) and we would giggle and eat on what we called a naughty day, not so healthy eating day ! I will miss so very much her quick sense of humour, her eye rolling and her snorting giggle. Our common conversations of how much we loved our boys....Ian, Eric and Alex were definitely her TRUE loves. Susan's bond with her family was evident. Susan found comfort being with her parents Leo and Kathy. My condolences to Susan's siblings and their families..Elton and Elise, Kevin and Gail, Dianne and Les. Rider games won't be the same ! Tuesday was often our grocery shopping adventure and possibly the day we giggled while eating our double cheese burger made like mac. YOU will be very missed Susan, my hero on so many levels. Canadian Blood Services was important to Susan. Donating in her memory would be a GREAT TRIBUTE.

Susan and I shared so many good times related to our work together at Canadian Blood Services. One of my favourite memories was her role in the implementation of our Buffy Coat process in the lab. She was in Toronto were I was heading up the Lab section and one night after work, we went for dinner along Bloor Street. On our walk back to her hotel she spotted "David's", one of the most high end shoes stores in town. Of course, in we went. Her to shop and me to watch...............right. We left with the same pair of gorgeous slate grey high heeled booties. Way to expensive, but they were now dubbed our 'Buffy Coat" official shoes which somehow made it all ok. The next day we both showed up at our very officious meeting about the Buffy Coat implementation in our new shoes. As we sat around the boardroom table we would glance at our shoes and giggle out loud!
See you one day and we'll buy some more heavenly shoes together...............
