Obituary of Alta Anne Fensom

Alta Anne Fensom (Devine)
September 6, 1934 – 24 March 2018

Anne passed away on March 24, 2018, a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was predeceased by her husband, Calvin Fensom. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Guy (Barb) Cowell, Paula (Brian) Lavigne, Scott (Julie) Cowell and Linda (Gil) Jouan. 9 grandchildren, Kristin (Todd), Adam (Laura), Brennan, Kevin (Jamie), Michael (Lisa), Daniel (Sydney), Bryce, Chantal and Nicole and 10 great grand children.
From her marriage to Cal, her expanded family includes, Jim (Irene), Warren and Kirk. 5 grandchildren,
Erica (David), Kevin (Eileen), Tyler (Sherry), Ben (Lindsay) and Jill and 9 great grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are her sisters- in- law, Ethel Devine and Theresa Devine and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anne was born on September 6, 1934 at the Red Cross Outpost at Shand Creek, Sask. She grew up on a farm near this Outpost with her family which included, her sister, Shirley, brothers, Bill, Keith and Dick (Richard). Anne was nicknamed “Toots” by her father when she was very young and many local residents only knew her by this name. Her nieces and nephews still called her Auntie Toots.
She attended a one room school house through grade eight. Grades 9/10 she attended school in Carragana, Sask. while boarding at the Presbyterian Lodge. Grades 11 and 12 were completed in Melfort, Sask while she boarded with her uncle and aunt. Anne was very athletic in school, she won many awards for track and field and was an avid ball player. Due to her level of skill her older siblings often called her up to play. Her love of baseball continued throughout her life with the Blue Jays.

Anne volunteered for church activities, her children’s activities and was involved in community needs. She loved to garden and had a beautiful garden in her later years. She also enjoyed curling, golf, knitting, petit point, baking, reading and watching the Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Anne put up a fierce fight with her essential tremors and dementia in her last years of life. She will be greatly missed.

Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 2p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church located at 812 Preston Ave. Saskatoon, Sask.
