Sheila,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have worked with Eugene since he came to DLL Canada and will miss his positive attitude, his wonderful stories and his obvious zest for life. His visits to the office were always looked forward to as you know he had a great story to tell to amaze you and make you laugh. His assistance over the years has made such a difference in our AG business and things will never be the same without him. My heart aches for you and your family.

We are deeply saddened by the news of Geno’s passing. Unfortunately we are out of town but we’re able to watch the service via live stream.
Matt has many fond memories of Eugene growing up coaching baseball or taking him and Chris to hockey. I didn’t know him as well as Matt but what I did know is Geno was a fun positive guy to be around. Our condolences to Shelia, Stacey and Chris. Our hearts ache for you and all his family. Cherish the many great memories. He will be greatly missed.

Obituaries provide a brief glimpse into one's life and character but never genuinely offer the story of “the dash” -- those years in between and what you do with them. I had the privilege to work for Eugene in support of his teams. Though it was only for a short time, the experience, influence, and his unfaltering positive attitude was nothing short of a blessing. Eugene’s passing is a loss to those who knew him and those who never will. May his family and friends find peace and comfort during this difficult time.
The Dash, by Linda Ellis
I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on the tombstone from the beginning… to the end.
He noted that first came the date of birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time that they spent alive on earth. And now only those who loved them know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own, the cars…the house…the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.
So, think about this long and hard. Are there things you’d like to change? For you never know how much time is left that can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough to consider what’s true and real and always try to understand the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile, remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy is being read, with your life’s actions to rehash… would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent YOUR dash?

Any time we got together he was always so full of life and had the biggest smile in the room. He made people feel special and our Purcell family is so wonderful that way.
