Father Jim Kaptein shared the heartbreaking news of Denae's passing a few days before the funeral. My thoughts went to the Leonard, Yvonne and the girls. They also included her husband, friends and memories of times past when she was my altar server and politely smiled whenever I teased her about something just to get a reaction. It is so hard to accept death when it comes this way and claims the life of a gentle soul like Denae.
It's wonderful to hear witness from her friends and colleagues about the impact of her personality and the gift she was to people in her life. That's a great legacy and a sign of her character. She will be remembered by us all and prayed for in the coming months and years. May she rest in peace and perpetual light shine upon her.
I am holding Denae's family in my prayers this Lent knowing and trusting that Easter is coming and that death never has the final word. It is this hope that I wish upon the Nakonechny's as they struggle with the loss of Denae.

Sleep on in Peace Beautiful Denae, Rest Well ...
You graced this world, ever so briefly with your gentle spirit and loving heart, how I wish you could have stayed longer for your parents, for your family, for your friends and loved ones...
Sadly, we know perfection never stays for long - and so cherished will be your legend, your beautiful smile...
I am ever so privileged to have known you, although for very a short time.
And to Leonard, Yvonne, Mark and all the family, may God, in His mercy console your hearts with peace and strength.
With Heartfelt Sympathy and Love,
Dorothy Dennis

Dear Yvonne, Leonard and girls,
I am greatly saddened by this news of Denae's passing. It must be devastating for all of you to lose yet another daughter and sister. It's so hard to comprehend that the life of this beautiful woman has ended but, as you all know, sweet memories remain forever. Please accept my deepest sympathy, with the assurance that Denae will never be forgotten, even though she was only three when I first met her. Love to you all. ~~~ Roxana ~~~

My sincere condolences to Mark and to Denae's family. I had the pleasure of working with Denae in PICU and at the cancer clinic. She had a smile that could light up the room, a caring nature second to none, and a sense of humor sure to make you laugh. May you rest in peace Denae

As a work colleague of Linda's I didn't know Denae, and yet I felt I did ... Linda spoke so lovingly, and so often of her courageous daughter-in-law, both in terms of her love of Mark and family as well as how brave she was in her battle with cancer. I am truly affected by hearing of your loss, Mark, despite being removed from your situation. Denae's life has been cut far too short, a sober reminder to us all to cherish every moment with our own loved ones. I wish you all the strength and love you need to remember the best part of Denae, while finding a way to move forward.

Denae, I will always cherish my childhood, spending countless weekends at your home.. introducing me to trampolines and learning my first front flip..which was not graceful at all and I can still see you giggling, sitting on that mat.... to you planning... in middle school, every girls wedding with bridal magazines.. from the flowers, to the dress, to who was all invited and we cant forget.. who YOU thought best suited us as a husband, even if we didn't quite agree. Haha. Let's also not forget, in grades 5-8, you were the one that kept quite a few of us girls organized, helped us with our work and had the projects figured before the teacher was even done explaining. You were the one that kept the peace between us ladies when there was some arguing going on. I guess thats what you call a strong, confident leader and friend. The most I will cherish though, is you were always there for everyone. You didnt pick sides, you didnt talk badly about anyone and you were always that someone who we knew we could always confide in and make us laugh, when we were having a bad day. You always seen the positive side of things and made you feel like no matter what, you could conquer anything you put your mind too. You were brought up to be who you truly were, to be respectful, loving, honest and even though we have lost touch throughout the years, you will always be that one person who reminded me of what a great and true friend really was and I want to say thankyou for being a part of my childhood memory, my life and that this isnt goodbye, its a... I'll see you later. You take care up there and be a that special, beautiful woman that you have grown into.
Condolences to Denae's husband, Mark( & 2 fur babies), her parents & family and extended family. Denae was a wonderful person and you will be in my thoughts, prayers and heart.
