Obituary of Connie Abrook
It is with immense sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved Connie. Predeceased by her first husband, Eugene Tate, and by her parents, Marda and Walter Battreall, she is survived by her husband, Joe Abrook, who cared tenderly for her during her illness over the last eight months and with whom she recently celebrated their 20th anniversary; her brother, Roger Battreall (Jayne Funk) of Minneapolis, MN, and by her children, Kevin Tate (Claudia Morawetz), Karin Tate (Gabriele Penna); Kyle Tate; and Carol Morden, as well as by her step-children Joanne (Basil) McCormick, and Jeff (Leah) Abrook. She will be much missed, especially, by her much-loved grandchildren, Chiara and Julian Tate-Penna; James Kellogg; Andrea and Heidi Tate; Lauren Tate; Benjamin and Jaden Abrook; and Bronwin, Anwyn, and Roisin McCormick. It was her joy to have recently become a great-grandmother to Mika Gene Miki Tate-Penna. Born Constance Joyce Battreall in Logansport, IN, and earning a B.Ed at Moorhead State in 1957, Connie was a dedicated and caring educator for various Saskatoon Public Schools as a kindergarten and grade one teacher from 1975-1995. As a vivacious mother, grandmother, teacher, colleague, social activist, and friend she touched many lives and changed them for the better. There are no words to describe how deeply she will be missed.
