Obituary of Darlene Newell

Darlene Dawn Newell (Harnett), July 6, 1951, passed away peacefully with family by her side, Friday, October 20th, 2017, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Darlene lived for her grandchildren. She kept busy following them to all their sporting events. Soccer became a love for her as Darlene became a true soccer fanatic. Darlene had a natural green thumb. Endless hours were spent in her gardens in Saskatoon and Candle Lake. Mexico had a special place in Darlene’s heart. She made many friendships while spending ten winters in beautiful Barra de Navidad. Darlene was predeceased by her parents, James and Margaret Harnett. Darlene will be deeply missed by her husband, Al, son Scott (Robin Burlingham), daughter Lisa (Cory Olson), grandchildren, Ashtyn, Mckenna, Celia and Rose, sister Verna Harnett, brother Wayne Harnett and his wife Cheryl, sister-in-law, Jacquie and her husband Wayne Lindgren, along with nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thank you to the kind doctors and nurses at RUH and St. Paul’s Hospitals, as well as the palliative home care staff, for their compassion and professionalism.
