Obituary of Anne Irine Swerhone
Anne Swerhone (Knutson) was born to Elise (Bergum) and Steinar Knutson on September 6, 1917 in Torquay, Saskatchewan, the fourth of ten children. She received her nursing degree from Grace Hospital in Winnipeg in 1939, moved to Canora, Saskatchewan to work in the Canora Union Hospital and married Michael Swerhone in 1947. Together with Mike’s brother Nick they bought the Canora Bakery in 1950 and ran it until 1985. After retirement she lived in Winnipeg, Kelowna and finally Saskatoon at Luther Tower. She was a beautiful knitter who loved knitting for family. She and Mike enjoyed square dancing. They travelled the world with square dancing friends, visiting every continent except Antarctica. Her kindness and generosity will not be forgotten. She was a wonderful, wise woman.
Predeceased by: her parents, her husband Mike Swerhone; sisters Inga Knutson, Nina Martinson (Elvey); brothers Elmer (Lillian), Carl, Olaf (Clara and Marg), Arnold (Gladys); sisters-in-law Nellie Parliament (Percy), Katie Pura (Peter); brothers-in-law Nick (Estella), John (Olive), Norman (Nina), Bill (Evelyn) and Peter Swerhone, Hank Holth, Stan Sogge, Harvey Hanson. Survived by: daughter Elise Swerhone (Bob Lower); son Dan Swerhone (Donna Carlson) (Cheryl Sedgewick); grandchildren: Cody Olszynski (Paul), Matthew Swerhone (Michelle), Laura Swerhone (Mitch Beckett), Michaelin Lower and great-grandchildren Mateya, Jacob, Tessa, Aria and Anna; sisters: Ethel Hanson, Helen Holth, Delores Sogge; sisters-in-law: Doris Knutson, Genevieve Swerhone, Bernice Knutson and many nieces and nephews.
Sadly, Anne died on September 13, 2017 one week after her 100th birthday.
