Obituary of Sandra Musschoot
It’s with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Blanche Musschoot following a brief battle with cancer. Blanche passed peacefully at St. Paul’s Palliative Care Ward, with her family by her side. Blanche was born in Bankend, SK to parents Francois and Hazel Patenaude. Blanche attended school in Emerald, Wishart and Foam Lake, SK. Following high school graduation, Blanche attended Psychiatric Nurses training at the Saskatchewan Hospital in Weyburn. She later went on to train at The Grey Nuns’ School of Nursing in Regina, graduating as a Registered Nurse. Blanche’s nursing career spanned approximately 45 years. She worked in a variety of settings, including the Saskatchewan Hospital, Weyburn, Uranium City Hospital, Cobourg, ON Hospital, St, Pauls’ Hospital and finally retiring at age 70, from The Royal University Hospital Hantelman Unit. Blanche is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bill Musschoot, her two sons, Colin (Lisa) of Grenfell, SK and Jared (Cathy) of Fernie, BC and four grandchildren Lucas, Nathan, Summer and Cohen. Siblings include Norma, Barb, Bernard, Larry (deceased) and numerous nieces and nephews. Blanche was symbolically adopted by the Dorsch family of Weyburn, Mary & John and their children Hank (Pat), Marlene (Len) , Helene, Sharon, Fred (Diane), Billy (Joanne), and Dale (Linda) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Blanche enjoyed spending time with her family, golfing, bowling, quilting, reading and socializing with friends and family. She adored her grand-children and always looked forward to visits with her sons. Blanche’s love and quiet demeanor will be missed by all who knew her, especially by her grandchildren, who were quite attached. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Viv Walker and the supporting staff at St. Paul's Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Dr. Mark Boechler and Dr. Gary Groot. Friends and family wishing to express their condolences may make a memorial donation, in lieu of flowers, to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon, SK.
