Obituary of Anne Greer
Lorraine Greer passed away peacefully on July 30 ,2017 with her family by her side .
Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma was born Easter Sunday March 31, 1929 in Secretan, Saskatchewan to Neil and Susan McLafferty. Lorraine, the youngest of seven children, was raised in Boharm, Saskatchewan. After graduating from high school in Moose Jaw she trained as a registered nurse at Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw where she met the love of her life, Max. After graduation from nursing she married Maxwell Gifford Greer in 1950. Max and Lorraine built a home in Lanigan, Saskatchewan for the large family they always wanted. God blessed them with 7 children: David (sadly passed away 1956), Donald Greer (Della), Carol Deyenberg (Ken), Pamela Russell (Gerry), Catherine McClean (Terry), Nancy Grummett (Tom) & Tammy Pfeifer (Ron). Grandma knit baby sweaters and mitts for her 14 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. We can’t forget all the others that called her Grandma Greer, of course they also received mitts. Lorraine worked as a nurse, a career that she loved, for many years starting at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, a nurse in the clinic in Kindersley and at Saint Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. After her nursing career, she enjoyed her family and many friends joining them in skating, skiing, bike riding, camping, exercises (at Columbia Manor) and walking. In the evenings, there was always time for her knitting. She was predeceased by her husband Max, our Dad, in 1983.
To celebrate Mom’s love of children, pride in nursing, and dedication to exercise, in lieu of flowers our family request donations to: Forever in Motion Community Older Adult program through the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation –or the Saskatchewan Children’s Hospital.
