I am so sorry that I am unable to attend Judy's service on Wednesday. She and Joel have been a part of my life all of my life. She had such a warm, gentle spirit that will be missed.

Dear Mr. Singh,
I was saddened to read of the passing of your wife, Judith, though I took heart from the fact that you were together for 60 years. Please accept my condolences.
I remember grade 7 at Brunskill school with profound gratitude. You taught me the English language, and for years afterward, I and many of my classmates would simply review your notes when we were faced with an English exam.
I doubt you are aware of it, but I am an award-winning author now. My collection of short stories, Nobody Goes to Earth Any More, was Book of the Year at the 2003 Saskatchewan Book Awards, and my short story, Badger, won the CBC literary award for short fiction in 2009. In large part, I have you to thank for that.
Blessings and sympathy,
Don

Dear Joel, Cameron, Jill & Robin,
I truly am sorry that I am unable to pay my last respects to Judy in person. She was such a wonderful person and over the years became not just "Cam's mom," but a friend and lovely correspondent while Mark and I were overseas. Over the past few days, I've gone back and reread the emails we exchanged over the years and once again, find myself touched by her kindness, humour and intellect. We shared a love of travel, culture, literature and cooking and it didn't matter how many miles or years separated our lives because in those missives, we both simply found a friend with similar passions. I will always count myself fortunate to have had that special connection with Judy. She was a wonderful wife and mother who cared so deeply for her husband and children and of course, a spectacular grandmother who absolutely adored and doted on her grandchildren. Not everyone is as lucky as you all have been--having someone so warm, funny, intelligent and capable taking such good care of you. And when the roles were sadly reversed, Judy had her loving family to rely on when her health deteriorated. In this sad time, take comfort in each other and in the fact that Judy gave and received the love of so many people. There is nothing more important than that.
