Obituary of Lauren Elizabeth Spence
It is with great sadness that we announce that Lauren Elizabeth Spence died in a tragic car accident on Alberta Highway 22 south of Three Hills on June 9, 2017. Lauren was 16. She is survived by her parents, Raycine and Christopher; her sister, Katie; her grandparents, June Miller, Gaylene Spence, David Spence and Donna Otto; her aunts and uncles Ross Miller (Nicole Keister), Daryl Miller, Dennis and Willa Miller, Matthew and Leigh Spence and Leigh Kaufmann and Mark Rathwell,; her cousins Marlin (Denise) Miller, Lana (Bruce) Weatherdon; Samuel Kaufmann, Emma Spence and Sarah Spence. Lauren was born in Yellowknife, NWT on January 30, 2001 where she lived until the age of four. After moving to Saskatoon, she attended Allegro Montessori School, Ecole River Heights School and Marion M. Graham Collegiate Institute. She very much enjoyed the arts as an avid singer and dancer in the River City School of Irish Dance and Duguid Highland Dance. At school, she was a member of the junior volleyball team, cheer squad, junior choir and dance academy. She also spent many years in Girl Guides. Even in her short life, she developed a love of travelling; perhaps her favourite destination being Salzburg, Austria. She enjoyed the annual family camping trip to the Cypress Hills with horseback riding and mini-golf, but not hiking. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lauren Spence Memorial Fund Fund (https://www.gofundme.com/the-lauren-spence-memorial-fund), which the family is organizing to assist other young singers and dancers with scholarships, travel awards, and memorial gifts.
