David Davis
1949 - 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Charles Davis. Dave is survived by wife Carrol, son Brent (Cortnee), daughter Krista (Joel) Thon, mother Edith, brother Doug (Norine), sister Joan (Dominique) Bourdon, grandchildren Brealyn, Kaden, Makena and Sonny, mother in law Mina Stueck, sisters in law Marlene Burton and Lenore (Peter) Hamers, Aunts Marg Jones, Lois Rowe, Anna Davis, Uncle Eric (Dorthy) Davis as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Clayton Davis, father in law Edison Stueck, uncles Bob and Jack Davis, brother in law Cecil Burton and nephew Gordon Burton. Dave was born in Leroy, SK on October 9, 1949 and spent most of his childhood in Leroy. He spent one year in Naicam, SK before moving to Saskatoon where he spent the majority of his life. He graduated from Aden Bowman Collegiate in 1967 and then attended the College of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan for two years. On June 16, 1973 he married Carrol Stueck of Abernethy, SK. He worked with the Department of Highways, Sears and Wood Cogger before joining the family business of Bazaar &Novelty with his twin brother Doug. He took great pride in the business and it showed to anyone that walked in the doors over the years. If you met Dave at any point, you could be assured that he would forever remember you and greet you with a friendly smile whenever your paths happened to cross. Dave was a member of the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club for over 40 years. Some of his greatest pastimes were golf games there with his friends and family. He loved all sports and was an avid Riders, Blue Jays, Oilers and Blades fan. A highlight for him was attending the 1989 Grey Cup in Toronto. He looked forward to attending the Blades games with friends and has become a familiar face around the rink as a season ticket holder for several years. Some of his fondest memories were traveling with Carrol, his family and friends. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren teaching them his golf swing or taking them to the park. Donations can be made in Dave’s memory to a charity of your choice. In honour of Dave’s love for sports, you are welcome to wear a sports jersey or shirt of your choice to the celebration of life.
