Obituary of Jennie Kinch

Jennie Kinch (nee Petruick) passed away peacefully on May 15, 2017 at Oliver Lodge Special Care Home, Saskatoon SK. She was born January 19, 1926 in Avonlea, SK. Jennie is survived by her three children, Alvin (Lynne) Kinch, Lethbridge AB, Sharyn (Greg Dudar) Matthews, Saskatoon SK, and Darlene (Doug) Lockinger, Fairmont Hot Springs BC. Grandchildren Dee Kinch (Penticton BC), Travis (Shaye) Matthews and Great-Grand Daughter Cami Matthews (Edmond OK), Terry (Julie) Matthews (Oklahoma City OK), David Lockinger (Clearwater BC), Robin (James) Elliot and Great-Grand Daughters Emma and Katie (Martensville SK). Sisters Mary Donison, and Joyce (Wes) Banilevic Moose Jaw SK, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jennie was predeceased by her parents, Lazar and Eleanora Petruick (Moose Jaw), brothers, Donald (Avonlea SK) and Willie Petruick (Moose Jaw SK), husband, Alvin Kinch (Calgary AB) and son-in-law, D. Dayle Matthews (Saskatoon SK). Jennie was a devoted and loving mother to her children who will always remember her kindness and know the many sacrifices she made for her family. Jennie was 91 yrs. old and packed in as much life as she could with family, friends, traveling, gardening, hobbies, and last but not least, her career. After leaving the family farm, Jennie received her hairdressing training in Prince Albert SK, married Al Kinch in 1946, and later moved their small family to Moose Jaw in 1953. Jennie was called a “hairdresser” in her day and her regular customers appeared on time without fail for a shampoo & set, cut, or colour. After the family moved to Saskatoon, Jennie worked at the Marvel Beauty Salon for the next 13 yrs. before relocating to her beloved Calgary AB home and continued her profession at the Brentwood Nursing Home. Everyone who entered her small salon walked away beaming with their new “do”….even the men! Upon retirement, Jennie traveled the globe with friends and acquaintances with a thirst for the next exciting destination. Her travel logs almost outnumbered her multitude of photo albums. Most people saw Jennie as a quiet little lady with a gentile spirit, but she could light up a room with her twinkling eyes when humour and laughter filled her heart. Rest in Peace Mom, and enjoy yet another adventure! Love from your Family.
