Obituary of Lydia Guertin
Lydia Guertin passed away peacefully at the age of 92 while in the care of Warm & Cozy Care Home. Lydia is survived by her son Michael (Brenda) Guertin; grandchildren Scott, Shawn & Danielle Massine (Aaron), Jeanette & Christopher Guertin; great-grandchildren Ashley, Kyle, Hannah, Carson and Sebastian. Lydia was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Stella Haldas, brother Edward, sisters Rose Kupchak & Roni Wilder, daughter Margaret Rose. Lydia was born in Poland and with her family, immigrated to Canada in 1928. Lydia was raised and attended school in Kindersley and area. Following graduation of business collage in Vancouver, Lydia embarked on a long and successful career as the Secretary Treasurer of the Kindersley, Weyburn, and Saskatoon West School Divisions. Independent and strong willed, Lydia was still living in her apartment and driving until the age of 91 at which time she moved to St. Ann’s Seniors Village. Enjoying a long retirement, Lydia loved to travel including visiting her homeland of Poland, spending winters in Arizona and most of all spending time with visiting family and friends. Lydia was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. Over the years Lydia was an active member of the Catholic Woman’s League, a volunteer driver for cancer patients and loved hosting weekly coffee time in her apartment building. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Ann’s Seniors Village and Warm & Cozy Care Home for the excellent care of Mom.
