Clarence organized, transported, coached and encouraged the junior baseball team I and my 2 brothers played on in Pontrilas in 1948-9, the best 2 summers in my life. 4-5 years ago he wrote about in in the Nipawin Bridge paper.
18 months ago I stopped in on Clarence and Jean. He remembered the old days with enthusiasm. Jean was so chipper, bright eyed and with it she reminded me of the chick-a- dees who keep us company in the dull of winter. Clarence always said his dad did not mind it if Clarence played ball all week-end and tuckered out but he was expected to show up for work early and enthusiastic on Monday AM.
Now Clarence would say live and laugh and love as he did but when Monday comes carry him gently in your hearts but do not forget to keep on living.

His Ontario cousins remember the fun times we shared. Mom & I were always pleased to receive the phone call when Butch was visiting near Guelph inviting us to meet for lunch at "The Crossroads". He was a very proud husband, father and grandpa sharing stories of his family. I particularly remember when his grandchildren wanted him to stand on a chair while at a restaurant celebrating his birthday. I think they thought Grandpa might be embarrassed ... not! Cherish all the happy memories of a life well lived.
