We were so blessed to have Al in our lives. My parents, Harold and Vilda Latrace thought the world of Al. He earned respect from everyone who had the opportunity to meet him. Not only was his phenomenal personality enjoyed by many so was his music.
As a citizen of Saskatoon we have been very fortunate to have Al in our lives
Our heartfelt condolences

The first time I met Al was when I was first hired at the store that bore his name. I was extremely intimidated to meet the man as his reputation in the community was that of class, honour, and generosity, a pretty large figure literally! It was in November 1997 and after working 2 shifts I was invited to the family Christmas party at the Anderson household. I will ALWAYS remember the love and joy that outing, and many following after, that Al and Joan hosted as those would have a lasting impact on my life to this day. I worked at the store for 5 years and it shaped me into the person I am today as Al and the entire family gave me an opportunity and a place to pursue my career, and my life. I was welcomed into the store and "family" by Judy, Jackie, Karen, Kirk, Joan, and especially Al. To this day, I have felt nothing but love, guidance, and acceptance from himself and the entire family. I watched the family grow from grandkids to great grandkids and I even though I do not live in Saskatoon I still keep in close touch with the family and the store. I have nothing but great memories of Al and Joan. I send my condolences to the entire Anderson family.

If Saskatoon ever produced a man with more class than Al Anderson, I have not had the pleasure of making his acquaintance. Al’s generosity of spirit was consistent and contagious. It was a pleasure and honour to work with Al on special projects that made life better for special needs people. He carved the turkey, he sang the songs, he made the speeches and got it over the finish line while praising everyone else’s efforts, never his own and yet his greatest creation was his extraordinary family. Everyone wishes to have a family like the Andersons. An amazing life and legacy.

My heartfelt condolences to everyone in the Anderson family, immediate and extended. Al was the brother-in-law of my late Auntie Audrey, and he and Joan, and your family made myself and late husband Darren feel very comfortable and welcome any time we were around them or ran into them about town. Darren and I would often run into Al in a mall, and I was very happy as a fellow Bedford Road alum, to be able to say hi to Al at last year's Bedford Road Collegiate 100th anniversary reunion. Al was truly the sincerest person around and had a love for all humankind. We are all fortunate to have known him and to have been known by him. The smiles that both your folks had were genuine and you could see in their eyes the love they had for everyone and each other, and now they are reunited.
With sympathies, Bev Kowaluk (nee Spurgeon)

Your Dad's kindness, wisdom, and generosity touched my life in so many ways during our early years of growing up together. I will forever cherish the memories we shared. Gord and I also fondly remember your Dad singing at our wedding. I’m glad I was able to have a short visit with him last year when he was at Luther where my mom was. Wishing you strength and peace as you navigate through this heartbreaking loss.” “Please accept our heartfelt condolences

We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Al. I will always cherish the fond memories of Christmas Eve spent at the Andersons. Eating lefse and other goodies, while avoiding the pigs feet, these moments I will never forget.
One of the highlights of those gatherings was the traditional gift stealing game, where we all had so much fun and created lasting bonds. "Uncle Al" made those evenings special with his warmth and humor, especially during the skits as kids.
Please accept heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.
With sympathy and warmest regards,
Todd Fast and Family
