Louise Patricia Suwala nee Chopik was born July 12, 1937 to John and Katie Chopik, on the farm in Plainsview Sk. She attended school at the Plainsview School until grade eight and then continued on and graduated from St Henry’s High school in Melville. Louise worked for the Royal Bank for several years, both in Balcarres and Regina as well as Great West Electric as the book keeper. In 1959 she met John Suwala and they were married in 1960 and lived in Goodeve while John went to school for an Electrician. They moved to Kamsack in 1969 where they bought their own business until 1975 when they moved back to the family farm. They were blessed with 5 children; Darcy, William, René, Angela and Michael. John passed away in 2008 however it wasn't until the fall of 2014 that Louise moved into Melville where she resided until her passing.

When we think of Mom (Louise) the first thing that usually comes to mind was her love of plants and flowers. Her house, upstairs and down, had a plant in every window that she could fit them into.   She always had huge vegetable gardens and was proud of her harvest every year, and taught us how to take care of and preserve all of it.

Mom is remembered as a kind, patient, giving and loving person with a great big heart and smile as well as tolerant (to a point lol).  She loved kids, with 5 of us that’s not a surprise and cherished her time with her grandchildren.  She was also an animal lover of pretty much every kind and you saw that they loved her as well, even the elusive bobcat that liked to follow her on her walks. It never let anyone take a picture of it but mom called it her guardian lol. We all remember her giving us haircuts in the middle of the kitchen or the days we made donuts and the donut hole “caterpillars'' she always had us make.  Mom liked to kid around a lot and did so until she couldn't anymore, only hours before her passing, which was such a blessing. Mom was our guiding light and will continue to be.

Mom lost our dad, her husband of 47 years in 2008. Their love held up through those years, through the ups and downs, and every challenge we kids could throw at them. It wasn't unusual to walk into the living room to see them holding hands even if they were on two different couches!  We, and especially Mom, never thought that there could ever be another love in her life until she ran into Ron, literally lol. She grazed his car while parking in the Co-op grocery store parking lot.  He waited to find out who was going to pay for his new paint job and well, the rest is history. I don't think she ever did have to pay to fix that scratch lol. Their love was so evident in those last days too, you could see it in their faces, mom couldn't help but smile every time she looked Ron’s way and we are ever so grateful.

We are going to miss this lady so, so much

We would like to thank the staff at St. Peters Hospital for their respectful and kind caring of our mom those last few days and Dave Hudy that stopped in several times before and after to pray with us and mom.
