Dear Judy and family. I was deeply saddened to learn of Brent's death and I'm so sorry for your great loss. I honestly thought for a second...is this one of his jokes? I worked with Brent at Nisbet Youth Centre 20 years ago but I remember his smile, his twinkling eyes, and laugh like it was yesterday. I always loved working with Brent. He always made every shift fun with his practical jokes, playful nature, silly antics, teasing, and mischief. His vast skills and knowledge were taught with patience and kindness. Youth and staff alike respected and appreciated Brent. I will carry fond memories of Brent with me.
Kindest regards, Chris Varga

To all of Brent’s family
We had sent condolences prior to the funeral, and after watching the live stream from Mexico, we truely appreciated the man he was and will be in everybody’s hearts. We were laughing and crying as each and everyone spoke on their memories. The careers and journey thru his and Judy’s lives was amazing Brent always enjoyed life with a passion and was so entertaining and knowledgeable about his outlook on life. Picturing him riding his lawnmower with the biggest grin as we pulled up to his driveway on our last visit at their home. We will miss him very much !!

Judy, my heartfelt condolences to you and your children, as well as my cousins and friends, Bobbe, Dawn, Guy, Mark, Jackie, and Daryl and their families. Brent and the older siblings were a big part of my high school years, as well as my early years working in Saskatoon where I enjoyed the hospitality and kindness of Hope and Jackie’s home. My brother Philip, and cousins Terry and Brent were friends who spent their weekends together, looking for fun in the early years when the Poncelets’ lived on the farm. I was Philips little sister who tagged along, and Brent and I became buddies, often being the two in the back seat of the car traveling country roads to the next dance. That’s where I got to better know and appreciate Brent’s humour as he was the source of many Saturday night’s entertaining for me. Those were good ole boy country days with many fond memories made.
I am currently in Arizona, but will be attending Brent’s celebration through live stream; thank you for providing this. I pray for strength for you all.

Mr. Poncelet taught most of my older siblings in Pelican Narrows but I remember him and Judy fondly. I used to babysit for them when Lisa was born. I also remember him being a jokester and laughing a lot. He taught in Pelican Narrows for many years and I remember his smile and his kindred spirit. My sincerest condolences to Judy and the children, my heart goes out to you all, rest easy Mr. Poncelet.

I remember Brent as a pilot and when he first met Judy in Pelican Narrows. Judy was one of the educators who taught us back then. Brent ended up teaching in Pelican as well and he certainly did have a sense of humour. He was also a very kind and gentle person who sincerely cared for his students and for that matter all that he knew. He loved being outdoors and was extremely handy working with students on practical skills. He is truly one of the people where the saying - “I’m not sure I remember what you said but I remember how you made me feel!” applies in the best way!

Many of my friends and former classmates were saddened to hear of Mr.Poncelet’s passing. Mr.Poncelet was our Principal and Teacher in Little Red. After years of getting bused out to go to school we finally got a school in our community. We didn’t know what to expect, we were all so excited. Mr.Poncelet introduced himself to each class. He made sure to greet students and to talk with us. He really showed he cared for us and made school fun. It was so nice to go to school every day and have such a beautiful person greet you. He was a caring, happy, fun and funny educator. He was a great person and now as an educator myself I follow some of his teachings. He always tried to make people smile or laugh. Prayers for his family and all that had the privilege to know him. May he Rest In Peace , our community and all his students loved him!

I was fortunate to develop a lifelong friendship with Brent through our employment at PAYR. No one day was ever the same as Brent was always up to something mischievous for a laugh. His mornings always started with a ham sandwich, pickles and a coffee mug from home. Brent was the culprit that caused many belly laughs on our unit, not to mention countless head shakes and eye rolls. Brent was highly motivated by his need to have fun and bring laughter to others.
He was an incredible carpenter, gardener, grandfather and friend... however not too sure about the validity of some of his fish stories as he was quite the storyteller- ha ha.
He took great pride & admiration in his children, grandchildren and his lifelong love Judy. He often commented that Judy had the patience of a saint for putting up with his shananigans.
Brent was also a compassionate person and invested in those he cared for, he was also thoughtful and generous.
I appreciated his friendship, fishing trips, pranks, vegetables from his garden, BBQ's and text messages.
Brent was one in a million... I am so sorry for his families' loss... you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Rest easy my friend, you will be missed, but your stories and legacy will live on. XO

We met Brent and Judy in August of 1982 in Pelican Narrows. Little did we know then that we were to develop a life long bond that grew stronger than mere friendship. A bond that physical distance could not weaken. Throughout the ensuing years we shared many adventures and countless laughs. Our lives were enriched by him and our loss is immense.

I first met Brent and Judy in 1975 in Pelican Narrows. He really was a trickster. My first ride in a float plane and Brent showed up cross eyed and wearing a shower cap. “I’m your pilot he said”. Our sincere condolences to Judy and family.

Brent and Judy visited us at our cottage at falcon lake Manitoba when their children were little and I remember Brent being so patient with his son Brent Jr who moved our nicely stacked wood pile into the middle of the yard while the adults all visited. Brent senior repiled it all when Brent Jr was finished his work. Many years later I remember Brent stayed up all night making a huge casserole to bring to our aunt Millie’s funeral. He always was behind the scenes helping and doing things that needed doing.
