So sorry to hear of Kays' passing. She gave so much to the hockey community in the territory. She was such a hard worker, staying up late timekeeping games, hauling firewood, and made the best mossberry tarts among other things. You must be in heaven regaling them with some of the hockey antics you have witnessed. Condolences Vern and family.

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Kay's passing. We send our condolences to Vern, Trevor, Trenton and their families
We met Kay when Vern joined Manfred at Yukon Business Services where Vern eventually became a partner. We became friends and for several years Kay would phone me every day to chat as supper was cooking in the oven. I remember fishing at our cabin at Judas Creek when the boys were small.. We had a skating rink in our back yard in Riverdale and the little boys often came to skate and play hockey while Kay and I visited.
Kay was an excellent seamstress and always had a project on the go. I was so impressed when she actually sewed several perfect Yukon parkas! She could never resist buying special sewing kits or fancy material and I remember a closet in her house filled to the brim with everything imaginable to do with sewing. I joked with her that she would never be able to complete all these projects. Perhaps she took all of them with her when they first retired to Victoria. But I remember that she was right into hockey again in Victoria ferrying her granddaughters to hockey practice and games.
So many memories. Rest in peace, dear Kay.
We send our sincere sympathy, Joyce and Manfred Peschke

My condolences to Vern and family. Spent a lot of time with Kay through hockey, both as a player and as executive with Whitehorse Minor. A lot of quality time with her in the penalty box while she was the timekeeper for old timers. She must have logged thousands of games as a timekeeper as she was always there. Her commitment and contribution to hockey in the Yukon was substantial. RIP.

Kay was such a kind and commited hockey mom...for 10 years we organized the biggest annual hockey tournament north of 60...
As the president of the Yukon Indian Hockey Association it was a given that Kay will be and was there for three whole days. Not as a fan even though she was ..as a timekeeper for all games..penalty box operator..score keeper and stats. She never once lost her cool surrounded by high strung players. She deserved a gold for her true commitment. Watching her walking into the arena carrying all her tools and that smile only Kay can give..
Have a good journey Kay..from your friends in Whitehorse Yukon..
